How well do we know our bodies?

When an ache or a pain arises many of us tend to go straight for the medicine cabinet. No questions asked, we suppress any manifestation of an ailment the quickest way possible. However, this “quick fix” approach to health may hinder us in the long run. Western allopathic medicine tends to treat the symptom of a condition rather than search for the root of the issue. The word Ayurveda can translate as:  “the science of well-being”. This holistic approach to medicine, spawned in India over 5000 years ago focuses on maintaining a balance between your mind, body and consciousness. Ayurveda has a system that divides the qualities of life into three categories. It’s called the tri-dosha system : Vata, the air & ether Dosha; Pitta, the fire and water Dosha; Kapha, the earth and water Dosha. 

Learning how to identify which dosha category best to suit your needs can be a challenge. However with the help of an experienced practitioner you will be able to deepen your understanding of how to care for yourself using techniques and remedies that have been developed over the course of thousands of years.
